Accessibility Statement

The CCCA-Climate Change Centre Austria is constantly working to make its website accessible in accordance with the Federal Act on Accessible Websites and Mobile Applications of the Federal Government (Web Accessibility Act – WZG) BGBl. I. Nr. 59/2019 as amended.

This accessibility statement applies to the website www.ccca.ac.at.

Status of compliance with the requirements

The Climate Change Centre Austria is currently in the process of converting and renewing its web presence with regard to accessibility.
As a result, the content relating to the assessment of (non-)accessible content will be changing continuously in the near future.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was created on 18.10.2024 and is being continuously updated.

The statement was prepared on the basis of an assessment carried out by a member of staff at the Odilien-Institut Graz.

The assessment of the website's compliance with the WZG for implementing the requirements of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 in accordance with WCAG 2.0 at conformance level AA will be carried out by spring 2025 in the form of a self-test by converting content on the website.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:

a. Non-compliance with accessibility requirements

Summary of the main issues:

  • Insufficient contrast in a small number of places
  • Heading structure partly not quite appropriate
  • Tables partly not implemented optimally
  • A few HTML errors with accessibility relevance
  • Error messages in some forms not quite sufficient

Improvements to the website in the areas of contrast and tables are being added on an ongoing basis.

b. Disproportionate burden

  • Content that is not accessible includes in particular extensive scientific works and publications that were not created as such. On request, we are happy to provide the full report as an accessible PDF.
  • Fact sheets are being gradually converted to be accessible.

c. The content does not fall within the scope of the applicable legislation

Many, predominantly older PDF documents and Office documents are not accessible. For example, PDF documents such as fact sheets and policy briefs, as well as brochures, are not tagged, meaning they cannot be read or can only be inadequately read and used by screen reader users. This means that WCAG success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value) is not met.

Feedback and contact details

The content of the website is being continuously improved, updated, and expanded, and making it accessible and usable for everyone is something we care deeply about.

If you notice any barriers that prevent you from using our website — issues not described in this statement, or shortcomings relating to compliance with accessibility requirements — please report them to us at the following contact address: heide.spitzer@ccca.ac.at

Enforcement procedure

If you receive an unsatisfactory response through the contact option mentioned above, you can submit a complaint to the complaints body of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung – FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the complaints body's contact form.

Complaints are reviewed by the FFG to determine whether they relate to violations of the requirements of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular shortcomings in compliance with accessibility requirements, on the part of the Federal Government or an entity attributable to it.

If a complaint is found to be justified, the FFG must issue recommendations for action to the Federal Government or the relevant legal entities and propose measures to remedy the existing shortcomings.
