CCCA International

Networking Platform for European and International Climate Agendas

Through its international networking platform, CCCA strengthens the cross-border connections of the Austrian research community in climate change research. The aim of the networking platform is to better link the diverse activities of the Austrian research community with those of European and international scientists. In addition, the platform seeks to raise the international visibility of research activities in Austria, and to keep the Austrian climate research community better informed about — and more actively involved in — international initiatives. The synergies created in this way strengthen the positioning of Austrian climate change research on the international stage.

A key challenge in science and research funding is optimising the alignment of content between research funders and researchers, particularly at the interface between national and international research activities. The strategic dimension is especially important here: what research gaps exist, and what long-term funding strategies can be used to address them in a targeted way? How can inter- or transnational calls for proposals be aligned with national research communities in order to position Austrian researchers optimally and create the best possible conditions for their work?

This is achieved, for example, through substantive exchange with the European Commission in the context of Horizon Europe and through the work of the CCCA working group "European Research in the Climate Field". In addition, various services are offered to the Austrian climate research community and in particular to CCCA members (see Services).
