The new Austrian Climate Scenarios 2026 - developed with and for users

The initiative Klimaszenarien.AT brings together Austrian climate research to develop the new generation of Austrian Climate Scenarios in a scientifically robust and user-oriented way, and to communicate them to target audiences effectively.

From ÖKS15 to Klimaszenarien.at

Weather and climate have a considerable influence on our everyday lives, our environment, and our social and economic systems. To be as well prepared as possible for the risks but also the opportunities of climate change, we need estimates of the future state of the climate. The Austrian Climate Scenarios 2015, or ÖKS15 for short, marked a milestone in Austrian climate impact research and climate change adaptation. Whereas national and regional studies had previously drawn on a variety of different sources, the ÖKS15 scenarios unified this foundation and created the state-of-the-art data source for Austrian climate scenarios.

This meant that the results of studies became more comparable. The relevance of the ÖKS data within the climate change adaptation strategies of the federal government, the provinces, and regions and municipalities also led to a steady increase in the use of the data and applications.
