Brief Portrait
As the name suggests, TU Graz is located right in the heart of Graz, Austria's second-largest city. Founded in 1811 by Archduke Johann, TU Graz looks back on over 200 years of development, change and progress. TU Graz focuses its research in 5 areas of strength, the Fields of Expertise. By promoting lead projects, TU Graz continues to develop its existing areas of top-level research. TU Graz offers bachelor's, master's, teacher training and doctoral programmes, as well as postgraduate programmes and courses. English-language master's programmes are a key prerequisite for the exchange of international students and teaching staff.
Successful research and teaching thrives on collaboration with strong partners — worldwide. TU Graz maintains a wide range of collaborative models. TU Graz strategically focuses its research in five forward-looking areas: the Fields of Expertise. Researchers work together across disciplines and benefit from different approaches and methods, shared resources and international exchange.
TU Graz strengthens the Fields of Expertise through new professorships, selected collaborations with academic partner institutions and targeted investment in interdisciplinary projects. The research teams develop fundamental scientific foundations and maintain close contacts with industry and business in order to put theoretical findings into practice. They participate in scientific competence centres and research networks.
