Austrian Ecolabel

The event meets the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings/Events. Through this certification, we want to take on our social responsibility. To do so, we're taking many visible and behind-the-scenes measures to contribute to sustainable development. On this page, we'd like to fill you in on some of these measures and warmly invite you to join us in making a difference.

For the Green Meeting certification, we're working together with the event management team at the University of Vienna.

During and after the event, you'll have the opportunity to give us your feedback on the Green Meeting. We thank you in advance for your support!

If you have any questions about our Green Meeting, please get in touch with the Green Meeting Officer Alexandra Wassipaul (alexandra.wassipaul@univie.ac.at/ +43 1 4277 17632).

Information for Participants

back to overview

  • Where possible, please opt for an environmentally friendly way of travelling to and from the event, or share a lift with others. We'll provide details on travelling by public transport, bicycle, or on foot on this page in good time.
  • If you can't avoid using a car, or if you're travelling by plane, you can offset the resulting CO2 emissions through compensation payments. Feel free to make use of this optional offer to do your bit for environmental and climate protection.
  • Vienna is a city where everything is close by. Make use of public transport or get around on foot.
  • Where possible, please choose an environmentally certified hotel (Austrian Ecolabel, EU Ecolabel, EMAS, etc.).
  • Take advantage of the eco-friendly options your hotel offers (only requesting towel and bed linen changes when necessary, etc.).
  • Refill your empty water bottle with Vienna tap water rather than buying a new one. Vienna's drinking water is of excellent quality.
  • Switch off all lights and electronic devices (TV, air conditioning, heating, computer, etc.) when you temporarily leave your hotel room.
  • Please try to avoid waste and dispose of any unavoidable waste using the separate collection facilities provided at the event.
  • Reusables are good for the environment: opt for drinks served in open containers, food served on proper crockery, milk and sugar without individual portion packaging, etc.
  • Dispose of your waste (PET, glass, paper, metal, batteries, etc.) using the separate collection facilities provided at the event.
  • Where possible, use digital materials and bring your own stationery.
  • Please return your badges/name tags to the information desk at the end of the event.

Accessibility

back to overview

Making Klimatag accessible to everyone is something we care deeply about. We welcome your enquiries so that we can respond as best we can to your needs and the individual needs of all participants.

Please find information on Accessible Events on the University of Vienna's event management website.

As part of the Green Meeting certification, an accessibility check was carried out. You can find the results of the accessibility check, along with a wealth of further information, here.

CO2 Offsetting

back to overview

The Austrian Klimatag 2026 will be organised in as climate- and environmentally friendly a way as possible. This includes a climate-friendly buffet (regional, seasonal, vegan), eco-friendly printed materials, and easy access to the venues by public transport, bicycle, or on foot. Communication and a shared commitment to making a statement also play an important role.

The guiding principle is: avoid and reduce climate-damaging greenhouse gases! Any CO2 emissions that are nonetheless generated by Klimatag participants travelling to the event will be offset by CCCA. The BOKU Competence Centre for Climate Neutrality has been selected as the partner for this offsetting.
