23 regions are tackling the impacts of climate change through the KLAR! programme
To meet the challenges of climate change, forward-thinking action is already needed today. Against this backdrop, the Climate and Energy Fund, in cooperation with the Ministry for a Liveable Austria, initiated the funding programme for Climate Change Adaptation Model Regions (KLAR!). This programme supports 23 model regions from across Austria in preparing for climate change, minimising the negative impacts of climate change through adaptation measures, and — not least — making the most of the opportunities that arise. The launch event for the KLAR! regions took place on 30 May 2017 in Graz. On 3 July 2017, a further workshop was held at ZAMG in Vienna, where KLAR! regions had the chance to engage with researchers.
For all technical questions relating to the development of adaptation concepts, the regions are supported by a service platform with experts from the Environment Agency Austria and the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG). Among other things, the service platform is also responsible for creating the new KLAR! website.
