Here's some of what's in store at the Klimatag:

!!New!! Innovative format for presentations in the third scientific session

Our goal for the 24th Austrian Klimatag is to break away from the traditional presentation format in the third scientific session (on 03.04.) and create space for new, innovative presentation formats. To this end, we've selected 5 presentations from the submissions that meet this goal and have successfully gone through the Klimatag review process.

!!New!! On-site posters and virtual posters

At the 24th Klimatag, a distinction is being made between virtual posters and on-site posters, as we received an unusually high number of submissions (>100) this year. The vast majority of these submissions meet the requirements for a presentation at the Klimatag and were recommended by the reviewers for a talk or a poster presentation. Unfortunately, the available space at the venue is limited. Therefore, in consultation with the programme committee, a selection was made as to which projects can be presented on-site and which will receive a slot for a virtual poster. Selection criteria included, among other things, the reviewers' assessments, relevance to the goals of the Klimatag, and interdisciplinary connection points.

Tried-and-tested conference content:

  • Opening, keynote and discussion on 3 April 2024

  • 5 scientific sessions with a total of 25 selected presentations on current climate research (3–4 April 2024)

  • Exchange around 35 scientific posters during the poster sessions (3–4 April 2024)

  • Presentation of 20 ongoing ACRP projects in 2 ACRP sessions in the presence of the ACRP Steering Committee (3–4 April 2024)

  • Icebreaker on 2 April 2024 and evening event on 3 April 2024

  • Workshop on networking between public administration and research in cooperation with the City of Vienna (3 April 2024)

  • Workshop for early-career researchers (target audience: pre-docs, 2 April 2024)

  • Fireside chat on the topic of science communication in transition (target audience: post-docs, professors, senior scientists, university staff, 2 April 2024)

  • Presentation of the CCCA Early Career Awards* and the CCCA Poster Awards

  • Open day at the Faculty of Chemistry (subject to sufficient registrations)

  • Networking opportunities during breaks and as part of the social programme

  • Certification as a Green Meeting is being sought

* This year, the programme committee decided for the first time to select two winners, as both submissions were equally outstanding in quality.
