30 degrees in Bruck/Mur: Earliest hot day in recorded history

On Sunday, the weather station in Bruck/Mur in Styria recorded the first hot day of the year — at least 30 degrees. It is the earliest hot day in Austria's meteorological record, coming ten days earlier than the previous record set on 17 April 1934, according to the ORF weather desk and GeoSphere Austria. At other weather stations across Austria, measured values remained below the 30-degree mark, though 204 out of a total of 278 GeoSphere Austria weather stations recorded a summer day with at least 25 degrees. In Carinthia, Lower and Upper Austria, and Salzburg, temperatures of up to 29 degrees were measured in places on Sunday.

In an average year over recent decades, the first 30-degree day was reached on average on 19 May, with a typical range spanning from early May to early June, it was further noted. In an average year, the first day with at least 25 degrees is not expected until the second half of April, with a statistical mean of 18 April.
