The majority expect a further deterioration of the economy and politics. Climate change is the biggest upcoming problem.
Anti-business and economically pessimistic: young people in Austria have a very critical attitude towards the economy. Only a third of Millennials (aged 27 to 38) believe that businesses have a positive influence on society. Among Generation Z (aged 18 to 26), this share is slightly higher at 37 per cent. Young people in Austria are thus considerably more critical than the global average. There, just under half see a positive influence from businesses, as Deloitte's "2021 Millennial & Gen Z Survey" shows.
62 per cent of Millennials and 51 per cent of Generation Z in Austria agree with the statement that business is only about making money. This puts them in line with the international trend. However, whilst in Austria almost two thirds of Millennials expect the economic situation as well as the social and political situation to worsen, only slightly more than 40 per cent of their peers worldwide share this expectation.
