Call for Applications AI for Green 2021: 17 June to 2 November 2021!


As part of AI for Green, research-intensive technology developments in the field of Artificial Intelligence and in application areas covering both environmental, climate, nature and species protection (mitigation) and climate change adaptation (adaptation) are being funded. The approaches and methods in the AI field explored within the R&D projects must make a concrete contribution to achieving Austria's climate targets by 2040 at the latest, or contribute to addressing ecological challenges. AI for Green thus initiates a bridge between the application expertise of the climate/environmental research community and the expertise of the AI community.

Details

AI for Green specifically aims to support R&D projects addressing the following objectives:

  • Develop or further advance AI technologies and
    • deploy AI to support the achievement of climate neutrality by 2040 and/or
    • deploy AI to address ecological challenges in conjunction with environmentally, climatically and nature-compatible technology development.

In addition, projects submitted for funding must:

  • Take into account the guidelines of the new European AI Regulation and the ethical guidelines for achieving trustworthy AI in the conception and implementation of the project.
  • Implement resource-efficient and energy-saving AI systems
  • Promote equal opportunities and consider diversity
  • Bring together interdisciplinary expertise from different specialist fields and contribute to networking the AI and climate/environmental research communities.
