The Foundation for the Rights of Future Generations and the Intergenerational Foundation are inviting submissions for the Generational Justice Prize 2025/26. The theme is: THE PERSONAL CO₂ FOOTPRINT
In 2024, temperatures were 1.55 degrees warmer than the average for the years 1850 to 1900, marking a decisive turning point in humanity's climate history. In response to the lack of progress on climate protection, this Call for Papers addresses an often-neglected aspect: the individual duty towards climate protection. Individual and collective responsibility are not mutually exclusive, but the existing paradigm of emissions reduction through measures by the international community needs to be complemented by an individual dimension. The prize invites academic engagement with the ethical, conceptual, and practical aspects of the personal CO₂
footprint.
To receive the full call for submissions and the registration form for participating in the prize, please get in touch at: editors@srzg.de
Contributions of 5,000 to 8,000 words are welcome, provided they engage with the topic in an innovative and practically relevant way. The total prize money of €5,000 will be divided among the best papers.
Submission deadline: 31 December 2025, 23:59
