Call for Papers – 16th Symposium on Energy Innovation, TU Graz, ENERGY FOR FUTURE – Pathways to Climate Neutrality, 12–14 February 2020

The 16th Symposium on Energy Innovation will take place at TU Graz from 12–14 February 2020.

The symposium is organised by the Institute of Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation (IEE) at TU Graz, together with the Austrian Electrotechnical Association (OVE), OesterreichsEnergie (the interest group representing the Austrian electricity industry), and the Austrian National Committee of the World Energy Council. The theme of this year's event is: "ENERGY FOR FUTURE – Pathways to Climate Neutrality".

The latest climate report from the World Meteorological Organization identifies the past five years as the hottest period since records began 150 years ago. A movement initiated and driven largely by younger generations is calling for meaningful action. The entire energy sector – and in particular the increasingly important field of electrical energy – will play a central role going forward. Building on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Conference, measures and pathways towards climate neutrality are being discussed with growing urgency at many levels (e.g. the Clean Energy Package, #mission2030, the Climate Protection Act). Whether climate neutrality is achievable from an energy-economics perspective, and above all by what means, will be explored in depth at this symposium across the following topic areas:

1) The future of renewable energy
2) Flexibilisation of supply and demand
3) Electricity markets
4) Transmission and distribution systems
5) Energy storage
6) Energy efficiency: transport, buildings, industry
7) Methods, tools and models

We warmly invite you to submit an abstract by 1 December 2019. We're pleased to share that the participation fee for this three-day symposium remains just 300 EURO for presenters – unchanged for 14 years.
