Official launch of the call: 29 April 2022
Maximum project duration: 31 December 2022
Background
ZAMG coordinates and manages the computing resources that are available to Austria as a member country at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts – ECMWF on an annual basis. In this context, ECMWF offers the use of IT infrastructure including HPC systems. This allocation is independent of the resources for any "special projects" that can be additionally applied for by Austrian research institutions.
In 2022, the available allocation of HPC resources for Austria amounts to 400–450 million SBUs (system billing units).
The aim of this call is to utilise these computing resources for research developments and operational services at ZAMG for the remainder of 2022, whilst also giving Austrian research institutions within the CCCA network the opportunity to make use of them.
Project submission
The "ZAMG-ECMWF-2022" call targets operational tasks and research projects with a climate and weather focus that require computing capacity through to the end of 2022 for successful implementation.
Projects with a commercial focus as well as activities that do not comply with ECMWF guidelines cannot be funded.
As part of the project application process, the following points must be submitted on a maximum of 3 pages by 29.04.2022 at the latest to forschung@zamg.ac.at.
