Calls for applications: Collaboration with a Member of the European Parliament and EuroScience Policy Forum on Scientific Activism

The call for applications for the European Geosciences Union's Science-Policy Pairing Scheme is now open! This programme supports two researchers to work alongside a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for up to one week in November or early December 2023. Selected participants will get a first-hand look at an MEP's day-to-day work and learn more about the role science plays in policy-making. There's also the opportunity to provide expertise on a science-policy topic. You can read more about this opportunity and apply here by 15 September 2023: https://www.egu.eu/news/969/egus-policy-pairing-scheme-apply-now-to-experience-life-inside-the -European-Parliament/

EuroScience Policy Forum – Scientific Activism: more than just informing policy and society (Girona, Spain, 19–20 October 2023). This Europe-wide event brings participants into a discussion about how researchers can not only effectively translate and disseminate their findings to support evidence-based policy-making, but also when and how it's appropriate to act as advocates. It sheds light on the emerging role of scientific activists and highlights some of the pitfalls and challenges that come with this heightened level of engagement.
