Why 2024 brought both successes and challenges for the Climate Change Centre Austria (CCCA) — and how the umbrella organisation for university and non-university sustainability initiatives managed to consolidate its central role as a climate research network despite uncertainties around funding and planning… The freshly published CCCA Annual Review 2024 offers insights into all of this, along with figures, data, and facts.
The CCCA network was strengthened, international progress was made — including the founding of the INBOA network and the publication of the klima2go database. The K3 Congress in Graz, as well as the CCCA statement on the role of science in society, represent a further milestone — reflecting the climate research community's commitment to actively contributing to societal transformation through evidence-based knowledge.
Timely and, given the developments of recent days, more important than ever!
Looking ahead, the CCCA hopes for clarity on outstanding questions regarding its structure, and to be able to focus more on the substantive challenges surrounding climate change, Austrian climate and climate impact research, and climate change issues.
