CCCA Annual Review 2024 published! CCCA stays active...


Climate change continues to advance almost unchecked with all its impacts. Current Austrian measures are insufficient to make the required national contribution to emissions reduction and climate stabilisation. Austria's greenhouse gas emissions did fall in 2023, but despite international and national commitments they remain at a high level. What's more, the roughly 14.5 billion euros in environmentally harmful subsidies that the Austrian federal government introduced in 2022 continue to fuel global warming. 

The CCCA stays active. 2023 was entirely defined by public outreach and awareness-raising. The CCCA community worked together with the Leopold Museum on the exhibition »A Few Degrees More«, reaching a new audience. Alongside the culturally engaged public, conversations were also sought with members of parliament. On 24 May 2023, the parliamentary plenary lounge was devoted entirely to SDG 13 – Climate Action, within the framework of UniNEtZ. The CCCA's statement on the draft National Energy and Climate Plan involved 49 researchers from climate and transformation research, who not only offered criticism but also proposed concrete further measures.
