City Nature Challenge 2020

The City Nature Challenge (CNC) is taking place in Austria for the first time this year in not just one but 3 cities: Vienna, Graz & surroundings, and Krems & Wachau. It's an international friendly competition to document urban biodiversity, taking place in more than 200 cities in 2020 — and everyone can get involved!

Simply take photos of wild animals, plants and fungi from 24–27 April and upload them to the iNaturalist platform. Whether you're at home, in your own garden, on your balcony or by the window, or out for a short walk — there's plenty of nature to discover in the city! Results will be announced on 4 May.

The City Nature Challenge is going ahead despite the COVID-19 pandemic — however, it's no longer a competition as such, but is instead focused on the shared observation and documentation of nature in cities!
