"Greenland is thawing, extreme weather events are becoming the new normal, millions of environmental refugees are searching for a new home, entire cultures are sinking into the ocean … All made up? Sadly not. Even though there are still some sceptics out there: climate change is real, and we're right in the thick of it. What do we do with this realisation – and what does this realisation do to us? Climate Fiction offers a fascinating way into the topic, with notable authors such as Paolo Bacigalupi, Kim Stanley Robinson and Margaret Atwood serving as prime examples.

On the occasion of this year's World Climate Summit from 6 to 17 November in Bonn, we're calling for entries to our Cli-Fi short story competition! Sharpen your pencils, get your keyboards at the ready, and pour your ideas about climate change into a fantastical story. The best entry will be rewarded with publication on tor-online.de and prize money of €250.

Send your previously unpublished short story on the topic of climate change by 31.10.2017 via e-mail and in an open format (.doc, .rtf, .odt) to kontakt@tor-online.de. The text should be no fewer than 5,000 and no more than 50,000 characters (incl. spaces) and must belong to the fantasy or science fiction genre. The winning story will be published on Tor Online on 17 November 2017.
