Climate change and its impacts – a snapshot of European opinion

Climate change is no longer an abstract threat in Europe – it's a reality that affects Austria and its neighbours in many different ways. A large-scale survey by the digital market and opinion research institute Marketagent now offers a Europe-wide snapshot of attitudes towards global warming and its impacts. The results are clear: two thirds of the more than 38,000 respondents are deeply concerned about the changes associated with climate change, and for almost 8 in 10, these changes are already being felt in everyday life.

In Europe, climate change is no longer an abstract threat – heatwaves and natural disasters such as wildfires, floods, and storms have become the new normal. According to the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service, 2023 is on track to become the hottest year on record. Even if the impacts vary from country to country, the lived reality of people across Europe is changing in the face of global warming. This is further illustrated by a large-scale survey conducted by the digital market and opinion research institute Marketagent among 38,088 respondents across Europe.
