Climate change ranks among young people's greatest concerns


Young people don't feel taken seriously. Climate change is one of young people's biggest concerns. However, according to a survey by the EU Youth Dialogue, three quarters of under-30s feel that their concerns about the climate aren't being taken seriously by politicians.

Around 60 per cent also believe that this won't change in the future. "This should be a wake-up call for politicians," said Sabir Ansari, chair of the Federal Youth Council (BJV), at a press conference on Monday in Vienna.

Politicians not responding to climate demands

"The consequences of climate change are clearly felt. We're experiencing record heat in summer and spring temperatures in winter. For years, young people have been demonstrating for fair climate policy. To this day, politicians have failed to put measures in place to help us reach the 1.5 degree target of the Paris climate protection agreement...
