Climate Communicators in Austria - Call & Invitation to Network!

Climate Communication in Austria: From the Networking Project C4Austria to the CCCA Working Group KlimKom.

Background: In Austria, a wide range of actors from science and practice, politics and media communicate on the topic of climate change. In the one-year networking project "C4Austria - Connecting Climate Change Communicators", funded by CCCA, a status analysis was carried out to identify which actors in Austria are communicating about climate change. As a next step, challenges were identified that stand in the way of targeted, effective climate communication in Austria.

Working group on climate communication: To help give these actors a stronger voice in the public sphere and to better leverage synergies in climate communication, an inter- and transdisciplinary CCCA working group will be dedicated to current questions and concerns in climate communication starting in May 2017. Furthermore, through the AG KlimKom and long-term networking of a wide range of actors, existing synergies are to be utilised and mutual support enabled.

Event "Climate Communication in Science and Practice": The AG KlimKom kicks off with a kick-off workshop at the 18th Austrian Climate Day in Vienna. There, the structure, goals and content of the working group will be presented and further developed together. Building on this, concrete next steps and tasks for the working group are to be defined.

Interested parties are warmly invited to take part in the following workshop: "Climate Communication in Science and Practice" on 22/05/2017 from 3–5 pm at the University of Vienna, Lecture Hall 27 (Universitätsring 1, Main University Building, 1st floor, 1010 Vienna)
