Climathon 2019

The Climathon gives students, entrepreneurs and start-ups the chance to come up with innovative climate protection ideas and help their own city in the process!

The Climathon is a global movement for developing solutions to the individual climate change challenges facing cities around the world. In October 2019, the 24-hour hackathon is taking place for the fifth time in more than 100 cities. 2018 was a great success for Climathon Graz, which is why it's back for a second round this year with even more exciting challenges! As in previous years, CCCA is co-organising the Climathon in Graz (https://climathon.climate-kic.org/en/graz) together with Science Park Graz and the GreenTech Cluster, with the following 4 challenges to choose from:

  • Klima- und Energiefonds – "Making climate action attractive for Generation Z"
  • Landwirtschaftskammer – "Aligning sustainability and profitability in small scale agriculture"
  • Energie Graz – "Smart meters and how to save energy"
  • Montanuniversität Leoben – "Zero plastic in urban areas"

The Climathon will again be held at Stremayrgasse 16 / Science Park Graz, from 24–25 October 2019.

Throughout the 24 hours, participants will be supported by experts and mentors. Food, drinks, excitement and relaxation will all be taken care of, so everyone has enough energy to develop innovative solutions.

The best teams will win prize money and have the opportunity to take part in coaching sessions to develop their ideas further, and to continue working on them beyond the Climathon with the support of the challenge sponsors and the Climate-KIC network.
