The Climate Journalism Network has drafted a climate code of conduct. It is intended to serve as a guideline for "appropriate, clear, and constructive reporting on the climate crisis", as stated in the preamble to the code.
At an event yesterday at the Presseclub Concordia in Vienna, the initiative was presented and discussed. Further details are to be discussed with representatives from various newsrooms in the coming months.
"It's mainly about viewing the climate crisis as a dimension rather than a topic. It affects all areas of our society and should therefore be considered across all departments and in relation to all subjects," said network spokesperson Verena Mischitz ("Der Standard"), who, together with Sandra Walder (APA), is jointly leading the organisation of the code.
