The future of Airpower at Fliegerhorst Hinterstoisser in Zeltweg remains uncertain. The Ministry of Defence has yet to decide whether Europe's largest air show will go ahead as originally planned in September 2026, or whether it will be postponed to later years for budgetary reasons. Should Airpower 2026 take place — that is, continuing on a two-year cycle — or should it return to a three-year cycle in future? What arguments does the Austrian Armed Forces put forward in favour of hosting the air show, and what are the arguments for and against from the perspective of the Murtal region? Is the air show still relevant in times of the climate crisis and the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East?
Guests on the panel are:
- Gottfried Kirchengast, Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change in Graz
- Gerfried Promberger, Commander of the Austrian Air Force, overall responsible for Airpower/Austrian Armed Forces
- Bibiane Puhl, Managing Director of the business initiative "Kraft. Das Murtal"
- Michael Ranzmaier-Hausleitner, Tourism Association Erlebnisregion Murtal
Moderation: Ulli Enzinger
