We'd like to remind you — our valued colleagues — that on 9 April 2018 the JPI Climate "Joint Transnational Call for research proposals 2018 of the ERAnet AXIS - Assessment of Cross(X)-sectoral Climate Impacts and Pathways for Sustainable Transformation" was opened.

The aim of this two-stage Joint Transnational Call is to expand the knowledge base that helps societies in their transition towards sustainability, in particular through an integrated understanding of the social, political and ecological impacts and risks associated with climate change.

The call covers three thematic areas; project proposals must address at least one of these focus areas:

• Cross-sectoral and cross-scale impact assessments for climate change
• Integration of biophysical climate change impact assessments using economic models
• Development of pathways to achieve the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement, taking into account interactions with the Sustainable Development Goals (particularly SDG 13 "climate action")

Nine European countries are participating in the AXIS Call 2018: Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden.

In Austria, the national management of the AXIS Call 2018 is being handled by FFG — commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research.

KEY FACTS ABOUT THE CALL

• Two-stage submission process
• Total call volume: approx. EUR 15–17 million
• National call volume for Austrian project partners: EUR 400,000 (BMBWF)
• Maximum funding for Austrian project partners per project: EUR 200,000
• Project duration: maximum 3 years

The transnational project consortia must consist of at least three independent, eligible partners from at least three countries participating in the ERAnet AXIS Call 2018 (see above). The consortium should be appropriately balanced.

SUBMISSION DEADLINES

Stage 1, Pre-Registration:

• Transnational: 18 June 2018 (17:00)
• National: 19 June 2018 (17:00) via FFG eCall. Successful consortia from stage 1 will be invited by the Joint Call Secretariat in July 2018 to submit a full proposal.

Stage 2, Full Proposal:

• Transnational: 8 October 2018 (17:00)
• National: 9 October 2018 (17:00) via FFG eCall
