futurezone Day: Climate Crisis - How Do We Get Out of This?

Technology in the fight against climate change. What can it do, and what can't it do. That's what we'll be talking about at the futurezone Day on 21 November.

The climate crisis isn't a topic for the future — the climate crisis has already taken hold of us and our planet. To slow further global warming and prevent worse disasters, we humans need to act quickly and, above all, decisively. But how can the fight against climate change — caused by ourselves — still succeed?

Can we make use of technologies to find ways out of the climate crisis? If so, which ones might those be? Do these technologies even exist yet, or would we need to develop them first — and crucially: do we even have time for that?

How can we use already existing technologies to protect the planet and ourselves from the consequences of global warming? What measures does policy need to take here to accelerate the switch to climate-friendly technologies, for example in energy, industry or transport?

Or is it perhaps technology itself that got us into this crisis? Can only a radical change in human behaviour avert the catastrophe? We'll be discussing all of these questions with a top panel at 10 a.m. on 21 November as part of the futurezone Day.
