Georg Kaser appointed new Vice President of the Austrian Science Fund FWF


Glaciologist and climate researcher Georg Kaser from the University of Innsbruck is the new scientific Vice President of the FWF for the field of Natural Sciences and Technology. He takes over this role from Gregor Weihs, who is leaving the FWF after five years at his own request.

At its most recent meeting, the FWF Supervisory Board elected Georg Kaser as the new scientific Vice President of the Austrian Science Fund FWF following an international call for applications. The glaciologist, climate researcher, and author of numerous high-impact publications will going forward serve on the FWF Executive Board together with the new management team under President Christof Gattringer, Chief Financial Vice President Ursula Jakubek, and the two scientific Vice Presidents Gerlinde Mautner and Ellen Zechner. The current term of office runs until September 2024.
