By 2040, the city of Graz aims to be CO2-neutral. To achieve this ambitious goal, a climate advisory board has been established. Among its twelve members, the University of Graz is represented by four researchers: economist Birgit Bednar-Friedl, environmental systems scientist Thomas Brudermann, and climate researchers Ilona M. Otto and Karl Steininger from the Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change.
At the first meeting on 28 June 2023, alongside the professional exchange, the election of the chair was also on the agenda. The decision fell on Birgit Bednar-Friedl, with Tristan Schachner from the Platform 1.5 Graz/MoVeiT elected as her deputy.
