24 students and a good idea ... that's what it took to make this Megaphon. Add to that countless hours of research, editorial meetings, interviews and photo shoots. Topics such as soil sealing, biodiversity and alternative diets kept us busy for a long time. All of these topics share a common thread: the climate crisis. It forms the pivot point of the stories we selected — whether they concern Styria, one of the leading federal states when it comes to the "concreting over" of valuable land, or all of Europe, where the worrying state of our rivers has been (too little) discussed for years.
The Graz street newspaper "Megaphon" is publishing its green edition for the second time. It was put together by 24 students from FH Joanneum and covers a broad range of topics related to the climate crisis — including the state of our rivers, the increasing sealing of soil and disappearing biodiversity. Examples are drawn from Styria as well as from across Europe. The magazine bridges the gap between local journalism and the international stage by giving initiatives such as 1.5 Graz a platform "for a climate-just and social Graz", while at the same time offering socially critical reporting on life expectancy in countries such as Chad, Bolivia and Romania. If you haven't got a copy, you can read the September edition here.
