Only the spread of infectious diseases concerns the Austrian population more than global warming
Brussels/EU-wide – Around two thirds of Austrians consider climate change to be a "very serious problem". That's the finding of a 2021 Eurobarometer survey published by the European Commission on Monday. At 69 per cent, however, Austria falls below the EU average of 78 per cent and below the 2019 figure (71 per cent). For 15 per cent of respondents in Austria, climate change is the biggest problem facing the world. Only the spread of infectious diseases concerns them more.
Two thirds of respondents in Austria said they were of the opinion that business and industry are responsible for tackling climate change. This represents an increase of 18 percentage points compared to 2019 and is above the EU average of 58 per cent.
