[Horizon Europe Cluster 6] Work programme 2026/2027 – find out more and start preparing your projects


The key highlights at a glance:

  • The work programme is structured, as usual, into seven destinations, which are divided into three calls. These will each be run as either a one- or two-stage process.
  • Each call has its own budget and specific deadlines. The first calls are expected to open in January 2026, with the first submission deadlines in April 2026.

"Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment"

The aim of research, development, and innovation in Cluster 6 is to expand knowledge, build capacity, and develop innovative solutions in these relevant areas. This includes, in particular, the transition to a sustainable circular economy, the use of natural resources, and food security for all.

Research and development for a healthy planet

The European strategic plan for Cluster 6 "Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment" anticipates the following impacts:

  • Climate neutrality and adaptation to climate change;
  • Conservation or restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems;
  • sustainable and circular management of natural resources; combating pollution; bioeconomy;
  • food and nutritional security for all through sustainable food systems from farm to fork;
  • balanced development of rural, coastal, and urban areas;
  • innovative governance models enabling sustainability and environmental monitoring.

Calls for proposals

To achieve these goals, annual calls for proposals with defined topics are published in the following seven areas:

  • Environmental observation,
  • Biodiversity and natural resources,
  • Agriculture, forestry, and rural areas,
  • Seas, oceans, and inland waters, food systems, bio-based innovation systems in the EU bioeconomy, circular economy.
