This first CCCA Roundtable in Innsbruck focused on inter- and transdisciplinary research, the Swiss perspective on this topic, and the practical implementation in research projects in Tyrol. Daniela Hohenwallner (alpS) also had the opportunity to introduce herself as the new Innsbruck board member and share her initial ideas and impressions from her new role.
Theres Paulsen (Head of the Transdisciplinarity Network of the Swiss Academies of Sciences) opened the evening and gave us insights into how this complex of topics is perceived in Switzerland. A really interesting talk that revealed many points of connection between the two scientific communities.
The twenty participants from academia and NGOs at the CCCA Roundtable then received information about the opportunities for participation in the k.i.d.Z.21-Austria project — and some of them signed up right there at the Roundtable as experts to support the project.
Robert Steiger (UIBK) presented the thematic complexity of the climate change–snow–tourism nexus and illustrated how research findings can be interpreted and instrumentalised in very different ways by those who commission them.
The substantive part of the evening wrapped up with Rainer Unger (alpS), who presented the "living laboratory" of the Alpbachtal — a region aiming to serve as a benchmark for future Alpine tourism and as an energy-autonomous model region.
The afternoon came to a close at around 6 pm, as the last participants headed home (some from quite a distance) well-fed, well-informed, and better connected.
