Aviso: Intervention at Stephansplatz: "Children demand safety" 30/80/100 - against speeding in road traffic
In 2022, 13 children were killed in road traffic in Austria, and nearly 2,700 were injured. Speed limits of 30/80/100 prevent a great deal of human suffering and save many lives.
Aim of the intervention:
Children are taking their future safety into their own hands through a high-profile public performance, showcasing their perceptions and experiences in road traffic. According to a study by the research association FSV, speed limits of 30/80/100 would reduce the number of road fatalities in Austria by 28 per cent and the number of injuries by 19 per cent. For 2022, this would have meant: around 8,000 fewer people injured in road traffic, and around 100 fewer people killed in road accidents.
The current limits of 50/100/130 claim additional child victims every year. If a community were asked to "sacrifice" children for the current form of road traffic (50/100/130), this would be unthinkable. But that's essentially what we're doing!
First performance: 26/6/2023 3pm Vienna, Stephansplatz, by children from the Integrative Lernwerkstatt Brigittenau

Competition: A competition for action groups and schools is planned for autumn 2023. As many groups as possible across Austria will work on short theatre pieces on this topic, to bring the idea of "sharing the road together" to a wider audience. Attractive prizes are being worked out.
Interested groups and schools please register at office@kinderfordernsicherheit.at.
