Invitation: Livestream on the Green New Deal for Europe on 27 April, 8 pm

Europe stands at a historic crossroads. A shared social project is needed to get through the coronavirus crisis and its economic and social impacts, without losing sight of the climate and environmental crisis at the same time. The answer to these crises is a genuine Green New Deal for Europe (#GNDE), outlined by our campaign in the Roadmap for Europe's socio-ecological transition — now also available in German at: report.de.gnde.org.

The roadmap, developed collaboratively with activists and experts from around the world, was first published in English back in December last year. It includes two forewords, five chapters and three appendices, and sets out — across nearly 100 pages — 85 concrete recommendations and policy demands that are both sensible and necessary to transform our economy into a zero-emission, climate-sustainable system across all sectors within just a few years.

American climate activist and founder of 350.org, Bill McKibben, calls this plan the "first attempt at a political response to climate change that is on the same scale as the problem itself."

To mark the publication of the German translation, we'll be broadcasting a public German-language livestream as part of #DiEM25TV on Monday, 27 April, at 8:00 pm, in which we'll be presenting the contents of the roadmap in an accessible way for everyone. We'd warmly invite you to register via this link; you'll then receive the stream link half an hour before it starts. Or simply head to our YouTube channel on 27 April at 8:00 pm.
