The funding confirmation for the 2nd Assessment Report on Climate Change in Austria (APCC Assessment Report on Climate Change in Austria, AAR2#) has recently been granted by the Climate and Energy Fund. www.ccca.ac.at/apcc
The aim of the AAR2 is to assess the state of knowledge on climate change in Austria and its impacts, as well as mitigation potentials and strategies, and transformation pathways towards a climate-neutral society. The working process on this assessment report will begin in February 2022, with the goal of publication in summer 2025.
The AAR2 is structured around eight overarching chapters, covering the following topic areas:
- Chapter 1: Physical Manifestation of Climate Change in Austria
- Chapter 2: Ecosystems services, Biodiversity, Health, Forestry, Agriculture, Food
- Chapter 3: Settlements and cities, Housing, Mobility, Land use planning, Natural risks
- Chapter 4: Economy, Tourism, Labor, Industry, Energy
- Chapter 5: Demand systems, Consumption, Acceptance, Social inequity, Justice, Lifestyle, Culture
- Chapter 6: Governance, Power, Finance & Investments, Policy measures, Society, Migration, Education, Communication
- Chapter 7: Mountain Areas as a Multi-Dimensional Focal Area
- Chapter 8: Transformation Pathways
The report language is English, with additional German versions of the Summary for Policymakers, Technical Summary, and the Executive Summaries of the individual chapters.
