IPCC publishes Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere (SROCC)

Ice sheets are disappearing, glaciers are melting, and sea levels are rising faster than previously assumed. The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was adopted by its 195 member states and presented at a press conference in Monaco on 25 September 2019, shows what impact these circumstances are having on many habitats.

The Summary for Policymakers (Summary for Policymakers, SPM) of the SROCC, including its key findings, was adopted line by line by the 195 member states of the IPCC at the 51st IPCC Plenary Session held from 20 to 23 September 2019 in Monaco. The report, including the SPM, was accepted by the member states on 24 September 2019.

On 25 September 2019, the SROCC was presented at a press conference in Monaco. The SPM, the underlying full report, and further information about the SROCC can be found on the IPCC's report webpage.

The IPCC approved and accepted Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate at its 51st Session held on 20 – 23 September 2019. The approved Summary for Policymakers (SPM) was presented at a press conference on 25 September 2019.

Further media coverage of the IPCC report:

Following the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C, the Special Report on Climate Change and Land (SRCCL) was presented on 8 August 2019, with the Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC) following on 25 September 2019. Not least due to a mountain chapter in the SROCC, an information event on the SRCCL and SROCC will this time take place in Innsbruck: IPCC event in Innsbruck – presentation of SRCCL and SROCC
