K3 Congress 2019: First Glimpse at the Programme

The German-language climate communication congress is heading into its second edition, taking place from 24 to 25 September in Karlsruhe.

The K3 organising team, this year led by the German partners — above all the Deutsches Klima-Konsortium (DKK) — is presenting the programme for the first time for the K3 Congress, taking place this year in Karlsruhe, on the theme of "Climate Communication in Times of Societal Transformation".

At the K3 Congress, participants will come together to explore what kind of communication can drive societal change — towards a future well below 2 degrees, as set out in the Paris Agreement. Central questions include how we can analyse climate communication, design climate communication that influences action and policy, and employ visions and images of the future in climate communication. Anyone who wants to put climate protection centre stage often encounters passive silence. Mental, social, and psychological barriers make climate change, quite literally, a difficult subject to tackle. The aim is to understand these mechanisms — rather than simply ramping up calls and warnings to take action.
