More than 140 applications have been received for this year's K3 Prize for Climate Communication. Of these, 22 projects have made it onto the shortlist. Next, it's up to the jury to decide on the winners in the three categories. The award ceremony will take place on 13 July at the Museum of Communication in Frankfurt/Main, where the exhibition "Klima_X" is currently on show.
This year marks the third time the K3 Prize has been awarded. Together with six partner institutions, klimafakten.de uses the K3 Prize to recognise projects and initiatives that make an outstanding contribution to climate communication and motivate and activate people to support greater climate protection.
By the submission deadline of 23 April, more than 140 applications had been received from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, spanning the fields of society, science and journalism. A shortlist was drawn up from the wealth of applications — from which the high-calibre jury will now select the six prize winners. The prize is worth a total of 15,000 euros, meaning there's 4,000 euros up for grabs for first place in each category and 1,000 euros for second place.
The three prize categories are the Citizens' Prize, sponsored by KLIMA ARENA (Klimastiftung für Bürger), the K3 Prize for Climate Communication in the category of Climate Journalism, sponsored by KlimaAktiv, and the Eunice Foote Prize for Science Communication.
