KlimaKonkret on "Neues bei Neustädter"

Did you know that Austria is particularly affected by climate change? Whilst temperatures have risen by an average of 0.5 °C globally since the 1970s, our country has warmed by around 1.5 °C over the same period.

The impacts are being felt by everyone. But the consequences of climate change aren't simply a matter of comfort – they also manifest in ecological, economic and social challenges.

To get a handle on human-made climate change, two strategies need to be pursued simultaneously:

  1. Climate protection measures to limit the rise in temperature

  2. Adaptation measures to safeguard quality of life – despite the already tangible consequences of climate change

Only the combination of these measures is effective. Because even if we step up climate protection efforts in the future, the climatic changes are no longer reversible. And for successful adaptation too, it's crucial to know how severe the climatic changes will be.

Our goal: To increase the resilience of our communities and towns to the consequences of climate change, and to strengthen them sustainably in the process.
