In recent years, the climate crisis has become a fixed point in many debates. Since then, the urgency has become clearer, and the impacts more tangible. Solutions exist too. However, according to a study by the market research institute marketagent, two thirds of people feel that too few measures are being taken to address the climate crisis. An even larger share of the population has the impression that vested interests frequently drive decisions and that some solutions are actively being blocked. Three quarters of respondents therefore want an independent institution to contextualise climate policy developments. This is where KONTEXT, the newly founded institute for climate issues, aims to bring clarity.

"The blurring of opinions and facts, the escalation, the power of misinformation: all of this leads to a confusing climate debate that unsettles many people and doesn't contribute to progress", explains Katharina Rogenhofer, spokesperson for KONTEXT.
