LCOY Austria 2020 - Youth Climate Conference

The third Local Conference of Youth AustriaLCOY for short – is the Austrian youth climate conference organised by volunteer members of the youth NGO CliMates Austria. This year it's taking place with the support of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. As part of a 3-day event, from 6–8 November 2020, which this year is being held online for the first time, young people and young adults from across Austria are coming together to learn, network and raise their voices together for an ambitious climate policy that rises to the challenge of the climate crisis.

An LCOY is an event held under the umbrella of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Its aims are to advance youth engagement on climate at the local level and to provide input into international conferences. It is a national version of the international Conference of Youth (COY), which takes place immediately before the Conference of Parties (COP), the UN World Climate Summit. This year's COP 26 has been postponed to 1–12 November 2021.

The COY is organised by the youth constituency YOUNGO. There, young participants from around the world can gain a better understanding of climate negotiations, network with other committed young people, pick up tools for taking action and organise themselves ahead of the COP.
