What makes the Lectures for Future special?
- The Lectures are a cross-institutional, interdisciplinary lecture series designed to give interested audiences accessible, up-to-date insights into scientific work on the climate crisis and other major societal challenges.
- The Lectures aim to open up a critical public discourse on topics related to climate, sustainability, and environmental ethics, and to embed these topics in higher education institutions on a long-term basis. The target audience therefore includes both students and interested members of the public.
What are the conditions for guest speakers?
- Guest lectures can be given by researchers as well as by organisations and associations with a focus on the environment and climate. In the spirit of interdisciplinary exchange, one of the core ideas is that guest speakers present at an institution other than their own.
- Once lectures have been registered, they will be distributed among the participating institutions. The coordinators of the relevant institution will then contact you personally to discuss how to proceed in the winter semester 2021/2022.
- The length of lectures varies slightly between institutions, but averages around one hour including discussion.
- The Lectures are expected to take place predominantly in an online format again this semester. However, this depends on the individual institution, so in-person lectures may also be possible. The format is implemented individually by each participating institution, meaning that online modes (live, recorded, etc.), duration, and language of lectures may also vary. Preferences can already be indicated in the online survey.
