Recent political developments, not only in the USA, are cause for great concern. The distortion and defamation of facts for ideological purposes threatens not only science, but also the foundations of democracy.
The Vienna March for Science on Saturday, 22 April 2017, is a call to protect, strengthen and celebrate the foundations of science. 400 demonstrations around the world on the same day bear witness to the fact that science, together with society, is ready to shape an open future in freedom.
The Vienna March for Science is being organised by "Wien Wissen", an independent association, together with researchers, teachers and students. The meeting point is on Saturday, 22 April 2017, at 1.00 pm at Sigmund-Freud-Park between the Votivkirche and the University of Vienna.

On 29 April, people will take to the streets in Vienna to stand up for genuine and solidarity-based climate policy. Record temperatures year after year, droughts and floods show how urgently action is needed. Yet the reality looks different: on the hundredth day of Donald Trump's US presidency, resistance is more important than ever – on both sides of the Atlantic.
The People's Climate March in Vienna is being organised by "System Change, not Climate Change!" and the organisations Attac, Greenpeace, Neue Linkswende, Obra, Plattform 20.000 Frauen and Plattform für eine menschliche Asylpolitik.
