PLANET SHAPERS - New Podcast Episode 8 "Forest at Its Limit? Between CO₂ Storage and Climate Risk"

The BOKU University is a pioneer among sustainable universities and a driving force behind groundbreaking research in environmental and climate protection. In the PLANET SHAPERS podcast, we team up with BOKU researchers to present innovative answers to pressing questions – from alternative tourism concepts and sustainable consumption through to smart mobility.

Climate protection is no longer an isolated topic, but a fundamental dimension across all areas of our lives. The key question is: How relevant is a topic to climate change?

PLANET SHAPERS delivers answers.
Hosts Astrid Kleber and Bernhard Vosicky analyse current climate issues, introduce climate protection-relevant research projects and showcase solutions that are already being successfully implemented – in keeping with our motto:
Facts. Research. Ready-made solutions.

Episode 8: Forest at Its Limit? Between CO₂ Storage and Climate Risk

In the studio: forest ecosystem researcher Hubert Hasenauer and wildfire expert Harald Vacik discuss how we can strengthen the resilience of our forests – and what dangers and consequences wildfires are already bringing today. Also joining us: Doris Damyanovic, founder of the forest mentoring programme for women, and Raffaela Hellmayr, wood and natural fibre technologist. They share their experiences working within the still heavily male-dominated forestry sector.
