How can Austria successfully transition to a nearly greenhouse gas emissions-free and climate-resilient economy and society by 2050, in line with the Paris climate targets? How do party positions align with the framework measures and sector-specific measures needed to achieve this?
Over seventy experts in climate and transformation research, in particular from the Austrian climate research network CCCA and the Commission on Climate and Air Quality of the ÖAW, have been contributing since April 2019 – out of personal scientific commitment – to a document intended to help answer these questions: the "Reference Plan as a Basis for a Scientifically Sound National Energy and Climate Plan for Austria in Line with the Paris Climate Targets (Ref-NEKP)".
The current version will be presented on Monday, 9 September 2019 at 10 a.m. at a press conference in Vienna.
