In January 2022, the Citizens' Climate Council began its work. Following a resolution by the National Council in response to the Climate People's Initiative, randomly selected citizens from all regions and diverse parts of Austrian society came together to address the question of how the latter could be made more climate-friendly. The results were handed over to the federal government in mid-2022. Yesterday, on 28 November 2022, the government published a comprehensive statement in response to the Climate Council's proposals.
