Review of the 15th Styrian Climate & Energy Forum: "More Power for Climate Protection – Citizen Participation: When the Grassroots Have Their Say"

For the 15th time, the State of Styria, in cooperation with CCCA, hosted the Styrian Climate Forum on 26 September 2022 – once again at the UNICORN venue at the University of Graz. Interested participants had the opportunity to attend in person or online, listen to the live discussion, ask questions, and get actively involved.

Following a welcome address by climate protection coordinator Mag.a Andrea Gössinger-Wieser, the experts explored the following topics:

  • What motivates people to take action?
  • Citizen participation in Styria: how did it go, what has remained, where do we go from here?
  • The Austrian Climate Council – who, how, what?
  • The Austrian Climate Council as a citizen – experiences and outcomes

Prof. Alfred Posch from the University of Graz, Prof. Karl Steininger from the University of Graz, as well as Laura Grossmann and Sabrina Pemberger (Wochein) from the Austrian Citizens' Climate Council shared insights from their research projects and their practical experience with citizen participation processes.
