Lectures for Future
As a supporter of Scientists for Future (S4F), we warmly invite you to take part in a joint "mosaic course" by Scientists for Future (S4F) in the coming academic year, under the Austria-wide title "Lectures for Future". The aim is to present students across universities with pressing questions about the future in relation to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and potential solutions from a wide range of academic disciplines and perspectives. The entire project is voluntary and based on personal commitment to S4F.
Anyone wishing to participate as a lecturer should register by the end of July at the latest using the following form: https://de.surveymonkey.com/r/ZFSMC3X. Each lecturer will design one or more course units on pressing questions about the future, each around 60 minutes plus discussion, at a university other than their home institution.
From the registrations received, a mosaic course will be put together for each participating university. Overall coordination of the courses lies with the Centre for Global Change and Sustainability at BOKU, while organisation at individual universities is handled by lecturers at those universities.
SmileforFuture Summit
European meeting of the FridaysforFuture movement from 05–09.08.2019 in Lausanne, Switzerland, with scientific support
Over 450 young climate strikers from 37 European countries, including Greta Thunberg, are gathering for the international SmileForFuture summit in light of the threat posed by the climate crisis to the Earth's future.
The participants of this first major European FridaysforFuture meeting will come together in Lausanne to reflect on and discuss the next steps for this unprecedented global movement. They want to inspire one another, share experiences from their respective countries, and set concrete further steps in motion. Topics will include the international organisation of the movement as well as the development of its values, goals, and demands. Position papers grounded in scientific evidence are also to be drawn up. Scientists are therefore warmly invited and welcome to attend the meeting. This will take place from 5 to 9 August in Lausanne, Switzerland. If you are interested in contributing your expertise at the meeting, please get in touch at media.smile@climatestrike.ch. Further information can be found here.
