Scientists for Future: The drought summer of 2018 was a clear warning signal

Scientists are pointing to the lessons of the drought summer of 2018, and this Friday students around the world will once again be demonstrating for the climate!

This coming Friday, students around the world will once again be demonstrating for immediate action on climate protection. This movement is now internationally known as "Fridays for Future". Just in time for the global day of action on 24 May, Scientists for Future have put together the key information on the drought summer of 2018 and its connection to climate change.

Scientists for Future see their role as backing up the protests with scientific evidence. The fact that measures to protect the climate and biodiversity are wholly inadequate was already established in March in a statement supported by more than 26,000 scientists. The problems have been known for decades, but action so far has been hesitant. The drought summer of 2018 in Europe can be understood as a sign of increasing weather extremes as a consequence of climate change.
