Seminar series on climate justice: Ethical reflection and transformative action

Whilst the natural science aspects of anthropogenic climate change have taken centre stage in recent decades, the social, cultural, and ethical dimensions of the phenomenon are increasingly coming into focus — particularly when it comes to pathways towards a sustainable transformation of the economy and society.

The continuing education series offers the opportunity to explore fundamental aspects of the phenomenon of climate change. Participants gain a thorough overview of the natural science foundations of climate change and various aspects of the phenomenon, such as adaptation, migration, public perception and communication of climate change, climate policy, poverty and sustainable development, and ecological spirituality from the perspective of different religions. The focus of seminars 3 and 4 is on reflecting on global and local transformation pathways towards sustainability and justice. The seminars combine lectures and discussions with text work and the Presencing exercise developed by Otto Scharmer.

The seminar series takes place in the context of the activities of the "Alliance of Sustainable Universities".
